GRAB YOUR BINOCULARS AND GO BIRD

Go Birding Big Day is celebrated on the last Saturday in April and although we are most definitely short on twitchers (committed bird watchers) in our marketing office, we do have one or two who have shown more than a passing interest in spotting that elusive LBJ (Little Brown Job).

So we thought we would strive to highlight the fascinating array of bird life at Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa and draw some attention to the fact that our feathered friends deserve more than the occasional hug. Perhaps we can encourage you to spread the love?

Birding is the act of going outside and looking for birds. It is really as easy and simple as that. People who engage in birding as a hobby often use field guides and bird calls to identify the birds they hear and see, and enjoy recording data in the form of field notes and species lists.

KNOW

YOUR BIRDS

If like me you don’t know your Green Finch from your Greenshank these tips will help you get started on your bird watching journey. Although we can not guarantee that you will ever be able to tell the difference between a Willow warbler and a Chiffchaff, you will gain the confidence to identify enough birds to get a lot of enjoyment from your new hobby.

Just take out your binoculars and go birding on your own or with your family members and friends.

You might have thought that the Big Five gets all the street cred and love, but if you think that’s all a safari is about, you’re wrong. A little birdie told me so
